Hello. I’m Tyler Donahue 👋

Frankly, I’m just trying to be useful while amongst the living. Hopefully in big ways, like contributing to the solution of big problems like addiction and obesity. And in smaller ways like solving a problem for my local community. Anyway, below are some of the projects I’ve worked on, pieces I’ve written and interests I have. If anything resonates with you, or you think I could be useful to you, then please use me.

Write of Passage For the past year I was the marketing lead for an incredible online community and course called Write of Passage. They have helped thousands of people improve their ability to express themselves on the internet — empowering many to build careers by sharing what they know online. Check out their recent effort to spread free writing education by David Perell called Writing Examples. It’s beautiful and a fun way to learn from the best.

Peter Diamandis’ Moonshots Podcast Incubated and launched Peter Diamandis’s podcast, Moonshots. This took a lot of convincing but ended up benefiting his ecosystem. Fun project, learned a ton about growing media assets and ad sales. I was Peter’s right hand for lots of projects for about 3 years. This was one of the projects.

Fund Your Purpose Partnered with Peter Diamandis to launch his fundraising program. He has raised billions in his career, and I helped him turn his insights into a digital course now serving over 1000 students.

Essential Blankets (acquired) Invented the first scented x weighted blanket. It went okay, I got a small exit, and learned a bunch about selling products on Amazon and Shopify.

Draper University Was an EIR at Tim Draper’s private start-up school in San Mateo. Discovered a passion for learning/ living communities. They can be incredible places. I was also their in 2016/17 during the first ICO boom — so I learned about ETH quite early which was nice.

Real Estate I got my Real Estate license at 19 while in Uni. This was my first real step into entrepreneurship. Lots of calls but I learned how to sell over the phone and at the doorstep really well.

Solving The Problems that Come With Abundance What happens after humans create incredible abundance through technology? The wealthiest countries also struggle with the most mental illness. You know the line: "Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times." - G. Michael Hopf

Increasing the Average Human Healthspan I like being alive. I like books, people, my wife’s smile, sports, sex, the smell of the rubber flooring in my gym, dreams, music, art, ice cream, comedy, dancing and occasionally getting drunk with friends. The alternative, death, is completely unknown, I have no idea if I’ll like it — so I choose life. And I’d like to live as much of it as humanly possible.

Capitalistic Reasons to Solve Social Problems I think for profit companies (in many cases) have the best chance to solve big social problems. If we can align incentives in such a way that big problems are solved as a by product of pursuing profit — we’d solve lots of problems.
icon
Scientifically Proven Health Information There are way too many claims that are not backed up by clinical research. Supplements, programs, remedies, ice-baths. I’m interested in media assets not affiliated with any brands who share clinical research that can be understood by the masses.

The Material World I read the Material World by Ed Conway and have been obsessed since. Humanities ability to manipulate the environment is magical. We are indeed alchemists. In general, I find myself gravitating towards the foundations. The stuff underneath. I’m on a hunt to get to the bottom.

Awesome Communities Especially, communities that encourage self expression, creation and freedom — like Burning Man. I recently got back from my first burn, so this is top of mind. I wrote about it here.
